Florence, July 3, 2025 – The president of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani , on the Regionals, goes straight ahead. He is not influenced by the moments or the controversies. Not even by the ideas of other regions. “We will vote in October”, he had said some time ago. And the line has not changed: indeed, the current governor of Tuscany, who will be the candidate of the center-left, even gives two alternative dates. Naturally in October. "Tuscany will go to the polls on October 12 or 19 , within the time limits set by the Constitution – he says -. There are no technical alibis or procedural excuses that justify a postponement. Administering means respecting the law impartially and respecting the rights of citizens. If the Constitution in art. 122 states the duration of 5 years, this must be respected. Not altered by opinions or party approval". "I believe in clarity towards citizens, in the stability of institutions and in administrative responsibility - he adds in a note -. We Tuscans have always shown that we know how to govern, plan and vote without tactical delays or hesitations". For Giani, "democracy is not postponed for convenience. Other presidents can choose the strategy of postponement. In Tuscany, we will vote in October and the budget will be approved in the right time, period". In short, Giani does not want surprises. We will vote in October to choose who will lead the Region in the coming years. The challenge is always the same. The center-left with a very broad field, probably with the M5s within it, and the center-right which - despite some discontent - will soon make Alessandro Tomasi , the current mayor of Pistoia, official. An exciting challenge, with Giani ahead in the polls and due to the fact that he is the outgoing governor. However, in all of this we must consider the variable of Prato, which has always been a stronghold of the centre-left and which is now experiencing the most troubled moment in its history, due to the resignation of the mayor Ilaria Bugetti: an aspect that will also have consequences on the race for the Region.
